Wedding Day – Fitness
It is natural to want to look your best on your wedding day & for many brides (& grooms) this usually starts with wanting to lose some weight & tone up their appearance.
Unfortunately this can’t be achieved overnight & despite the many adverts you may see scattered across the internet, you can’t & shouldn’t attempt to loose a dress size in a week! If you start early enough though you can loose those extra few pounds & shape up by your wedding day. Here are some common questions & answers which may help you get started.
My wedding is in 3 weeks, how can I loose 20 pounds?
Truth is you can’t. Whilst that may not be the answer you want to hear, it is a realistic one & being realistic is always a good place to start when it comes to loosing weight. Healthy weight loss ranges from 2 – 3 pounds per week although you may find you loose more in the first ten days as your body eliminates excess water.
Embarking on an extreme weight loss course which promise 7 – 14 pounds week is not only dangerous but will probably not make you look any better. Loosing that much weight, that quickly, is usually down to shedding excess water & muscle tissue rather than fat. Plus loosing that much weight that quickly will not only have an impact on your health, it will also put you in danger of not being able to fit into your wedding dress.
How can I find the time for a workout with all this wedding planning?
Regular exercise is an important part of anyone’s lifestyle & even the busiest of lifestyles can still find some time to exercise. Whilst decreasing your daily or weekly exercise regime is fine, you shouldn’t abandon it altogether. Wedding planning is a stressful undertaking, but you can incorporate exercise into your daily schedule. Take some time out to go for a run. Running is amazing for distressing & clearing your mind, you’ll come back refreshed & ready to tackle the next task on your list. Another option is to take dance classes with your fiancé. Not only will you wow your guests with a great first dance but you will get fit too!
I want to tone my upper body for a more defined look for my wedding day, how can I do this?
First you need to take a look at your upper body. If you have a lot of fat around this are you will need to burn some of it off. In other words burn off more calories than you consume. Join a healthy fitness program at your local gym which will include cardio, strength & flexibility exercises along with some nutritional advice. Once the fat levels have decreased you can work on strengthening the muscle groups in your upper body to obtain the look you desire for your wedding day. Try to perform 1 – 2 exercises specific to each muscle group, with 8 – 12 reps & 1 – 2 sets. Stick to this & you should start to see the results in about 4 weeks.
How can I increase my motivation to exercise?
Working out with a friend can be a great motivator but both of you need to be able to motivate each other. Another option would be a personal trainer who can tailor an exercise program for you & keep you going throughout. At the end of the day willpower isn’t available ‘off the shelf’ so you will need an element of self-motivation to achieve your goal.
How can I get a bikini body in time for my honeymoon?
Unfortunately getting a beach body doesn’t happen over night & you will need to embark on an intensive & comprehensive fitness program to achieve it. When you look for a suitable program make sure it includes exercises which will target the specific muscle groups you want to enhance, such as your stomach, legs & butt. Many of these can be done at home & for just a few minutes workout each day you will start to see a difference in just a few weeks.
